Nothing Rhymed

朝方、ぼくはひさしぶりにギルバート・オサリバンのファーストアルバムを聴いた。
「Nothing Rhymed」の美しさに震える。
その詞にも、また。

二重にも三重にも否定していくような、
とてもひねくれた、日本語訳しにくい詞なんだけど、
この否定語の連なりは、ぼくにはよく理解できるのだ。
言ったそばから、すぐにすべて否定したくなる気分。
「それは真実ではない」と思いながらも、それを言葉にしていかざるをえない苦々しさ。
